Big Girl Quilt

I have made a ton of progress on the Goose's big girl quilt, including adding a border to each side. With the new baby girl coming soon, we decided to switch her to a bigger bed. Luckily I wasn't finished with her quilt...so I had time to enlarge it. Two shams are in the works, and it's just about ready for quilting. (Basting a queen size quilt while 8.5 months pregnant isn't the most fun!)Here are a few pics...

Quilts For Kids

Last summer I came across the website of an organization that provides quilts for kids who are sick and in hospitals all across the county. (www.quiltsforkids.org) I ordered a kit of fabric (they send you a fabric kit free, all you need to provide are the batting and thread). I also bought a little bit of fabric for the binding because I didn't want to just fold over the backing and top stitch it down to the front.

I also used scraps from the Goose's Brown Bear quilt and made a second quilt to send along with the first. I finished these two last fall and shipped them off to Quilts for Kids. :)

The Brown Bear quilt was made entirely from scraps from a kit I had ordered a few years ago to make the Goose a Brown Bear quilt...I can't believe how much extra fabric was included in the kit for the pattern provided! I still have some scraps left!

I used a gift card I got for Christmas to buy fabric to make two more quilts for Quilts for Kids.

The two quilt tops are done now... They just need to be basted and quilted. I hope to finish them up soon! :)

Catching Up!

Well, it's been a while since I have posted anything, but I have had a few projects going throughout the fall and winter. Things just get a little busy between family, work, and the show. Plus, the Goose is getting a little sister this summer!
Anyway, here are a few of my projects...

A fall table runner (I used a charm pack of Grand Finale).

Some progress on the Goose's new quilt for her bed (random fabrics, using the pattern Dot Party).

Another table runner...this one for my grandmother's birthday.

A set of Christmas place mats...

...and a Christmas throw. Both Christmas projects were made from recipes on Moda Bake Shop.

Synchronized Squares

My Summer House backing fabric arrived last week for my Synchronized Squares Quilt Along!
Yardage!
I used scraps from the front on the back, as well as yardage of a few of my favorite prints! Here's how I laid out the backing:

I also added a border to the quilt top, inspired by another picture on the Synchronized Squares Flickr group. I love how it turned out!

So right now, I am quilting away, and I hope to be ready to put on the binding soon! : )

Progress

I have made progress on the Blue Squares quilt for our Penn State basement! Matt can't wait for it to be done. Here are 8 out of 10 rows sewn together....

Now I just have to finish the last two rows, then sew them all together, and the quilt top will be done. : )

I also have a few other projects ready to start...
Here's the fabric for another quilt (Sunkissed by Sweetwater for Moda):

I have loved this fabric for a while, and I finally bought it when I realized it was discontinued. I have the quilt all planned out, but I haven't started cutting it yet!

And, I signed up to attend a class at my local quilt shop, it's called Dot Party and it will be taught by the designer, Julie Herman. I am really excited for the class! I decided to make a new twin bed quilt for my little goose. It will match her room nicely, and will also help when the sheets need to be changed in the middle of the night!! ; ) Here are the fabrics I picked for her...fun and colorful, just like her!

Synchronized Squares

Well, I didn't win the drawing for the quilt along, but I had a great time and finished my quilt top!
Completed Quilt Top!!!!!
I love it!! It went together quickly, and Rachel's directions were super clear and easy to follow. The fabric is Summer House by Lily Ashury for Moda, and the yardage should be available this month. When it is, I want to order the fabric for the backing, and possibly a border. (The border wasn't in the instructions, but someone else on the flickr group added a border, and I love how it looks, so I may try it. The only problem would be picking which fabric...)

Here's a pic of my little goose helping me with the block layout...

I think the best part of the QAL was a happy accident...a few weeks ago my aunt ordered some fabric with the intention of quilting along with me and making a quilt for my cousin Margaret, who is 14. Well, the fabric came in, and she left it at my house while Margaret was staying for a few days....and...I taught Margaret how to quilt!! (Well, I taught her how to piece her top...we haven't gotten to the actual quilting yet!!) Here's her completed top (she used Trick or Treat by Deb Strain for Moda).

So...now back to work on the Blue Squares for the hubby : )
